We are pleased to announce the international network meeting at DTNW in Krefeld on 30th April 2025, a big thank you to Deutsches Textilforschungszentrum Nord-West for the excellent hospitality and support!
Under the leadership of our network managers Natalie Dörfler and Dr. Alexander Guhr, this inaugural event marked a pivotal moment in our mission to reduce the risk of firefighter cancer.
The day began with an overview of our active working groups, followed by highly informative expert presentations:
🧪 Dr. Wolfgang Staber presented the OXY3 method for the PAH decontamination of firefighter clothing and equipment.
🔥 Dr. Adrian Beard from Pinfa, a sector group of Cefic shed light on the role of flame retardants in fire safety and their influence on combustion and smoke.
🔬 A special highlight was the guided tour through DTNW, led by Dr. Thomas Mayer-Gall, offering valuable insight into current research and facilities.
After lunch, the working groups had the chance to meet and discuss their ongoing activities, followed by an inspiring presentation by Prof. Dr. Simon Schwerd from Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt on IC-FReD – an interaction concept for the automated deployment of UAVs in firefighting.
We thank all speakers, participants, and partners for their contributions and look forward to continuing our joint efforts in advancing fire safety, decontamination, and textile innovation.
